Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his administration’s free education policy.

The President of the Ministry, Mrs.Chinyere Ezeofor, who gave the commendation while delivering the address at the 19th Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference held at Our Lady Ogbunka Church in Orumba South Local Government Area, described the Anambra State Government’s free education policy as a step in a positive direction, which in her opinion, it will enable poor parents to send their children to school to obtain a solid and high-quality education.

Mrs. Ezeofor, who is the conference chairperson, commended Governor Soludo for his massive investment in the education sector, saying that hiring more teachers in schools across the state and providing computers to teachers, among other measures, are aimed at improving teaching and learning.

She said the Soludo administration’s One Youth, Two Skills initiative, erosion control, free antenatal care and free delivery in all government hospitals demonstrate that Governor Soludo is committed to improving the living conditions of the people of Ndi Anambra, and called for prayers and support to its administration to enable it to continue implementing its mandate.

Mrs. Ezeofor commended the governor for the ongoing road construction across the state as well as the pace of work on the Ekwulobia flyover, which she said would improve vehicular traffic and boost economic activities.

She commended the governor’s wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for using her non-governmental organization, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, to reawaken the mindset of the people, especially women and children, on healthy lifestyles, calling for their sustenance.

Ms Ezeofor used the opportunity to appeal to the federal government to initiate more policies that will improve the living standards of the people

Announcing the opening of the conference, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Aguata and Patron of Women’s Ministry, Most Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, who described the conference as a multi-benefit event, urged participants to disseminate the knowledge they will gain from the event in all their churches and communities to create a decent and God-fearing society.

Speaking on the conference theme: “God’s Great Task for the Church; The Great Commandment” – Bishop Ezeofor described it as apt and enjoined the people to always obey God’s commandments in order to inherit His Kingdom.

While presenting the motion to adopt the President’s speech as a working document in the diocese, Justice Obiageli Erinne described it as accurate and well-documented, stating that it would serve as a reference point, while Mrs. Chizoba Chukwumaike upheld the motion.

Some of the delegates including the wife of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwueme, Lady Uche Obi, expressed satisfaction with the theme of the conference, saying it was a reminder to the faithful of the importance of God’s commandment in the life of every Christian.

The conference was attended by over twenty wives of bishops from partner dioceses, including Dr. Chioma Ibezim, head of the Women’s Ministry of the Ecclesiastical Province of the Diocese of Niger and Awka.
