ACEN unit to power ADB headquarters with solar and wind energy

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has inked a deal with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) to exclusively power its Mandaluyong headquarters with 100% renewable energy.

ACEN RES, a unit of ACEN Corp., will supply electricity sourced from its solar and wind energy portfolio. This move underscores ADB’s commitment to promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Bruce Gosper, ADB’s vice-president for administration and corporate management, emphasizes the institution’s role as Asia-Pacific’s climate bank, highlighting efforts to reduce its carbon footprint through renewable energy sources like solar and wind.

Lakshmi Menon, ADB’s director general for corporate services, noted the bank’s strides in energy efficiency, achieving lower consumption compared to buildings of similar size. “Since 2014, we’ve consistently sourced electricity from renewables and implemented measures to reduce water and paper use, and waste,” Menon added.

Eric Francia, president and CEO of ACEN, expressed enthusiasm about deepening their collaboration with ADB, citing ADB’s crucial role in fostering ACEN’s renewable energy expansion in the Philippines and beyond through sustainable financing.

“I’m delighted to see our partnership extend to supplying clean energy to ADB’s headquarters, further strengthening our ties,” Francia said.

ACEN, part of the Ayala Group, operates renewable energy projects across multiple countries, with around 4.8 GW of renewable capacity currently operational or in development.
