State government to implement Seventh Pay Commission recommendations soon

Reiterating her government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its employees, Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil said the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission would be implemented soon.

“Implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission is the major demand of government employees. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will take a positive decision soon. Our government will do everything for the development and welfare of government employees,” Dr Patil said after inaugurating the general body of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association at SM Pandit Ranga Mandir in Kalaburagi on Sunday.

Highlighting the undeniable role of government employees in implementing government policies and welfare programs, Dr. Patil said that the benefits of various programs can reach the last beneficiary only when government employees perform their duties reliably.

“We in the legislature can formulate policies and announce social welfare programs and development projects. However, their effective implementation largely depends on the bureaucratic machine that works from top to bottom,” he said.

“There are reports that personal interests are threatening some honest officers. Honest and dedicated officers should not fear the same threats and blackmail that our government has faced against them. Transparent and pro-people governance is our goal and government employees are key stakeholders in achieving it,” Dr. Patil said.

Meeting

Praising the special status granted to Kalyana Karnataka under Article 371(J) of the Constitution as a model for the development of the region, Dr Patil said that candidates from the area are provided with reservation benefits in employment and education, besides a large number of special grants for the development of the region.

“There are some issues in proper implementation of the Special Status, especially in the case of reservation offered to candidates from the region in promotion. A Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Rural Development Minister and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge will meet on July 4 to discuss them,” Dr Patil said, adding that his government would take steps to fill up all vacancies in various government departments across the state.

Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Taranum urged students to seize the opportunities offered by developments in science and technology to create a better future for themselves and society.

“Rapid technological advancement has opened floodgates of opportunities. You need to make good use of them. Your parents work hard to provide you with a better education. You need to ensure that their hard work does not go to waste. You need to study well and secure good positions to serve the country,” she said.

Additional Commissioner, School Education (Kalaburagi Division) Akash S. recalled how his parents and teachers encouraged him to work hard and become an Indian administrative officer.

“My father was a Group D employee in a central government department. His duty was to open the chambers of senior officers and attend to their requirements in the office. I wanted to sit in such a chamber as a senior officer. My teacher Shambavi, who taught science, sowed the seed of my dream of becoming an IAS officer. Thanks to the hard work of my parents and the encouragement of my teacher, I stand before you as an IAS officer,” the officer said to motivate the young students.

State Government Employees Association president CS Shadakshari has appealed to the government to implement the Seventh Pay Commission for the benefit of 520,000 government employees who are working hard in implementing government programs.

Government employees representatives Ramesh Sanga, Raju Leganti, Srinivas, N. Malatesh, BD Dinesh, Siddaramanna, Mahipal Reddy, Mahesh Hugar, Suryakanth Kadam, Mallinath Guded, Abdul Azim, Chandrakanth Yeri, Babu Mourya, Umadevi, Siddalingaiah Mathapathi, Hanamantharaya Golasar, Satish Sajjan and others were present.

Meritorious children of government employees who secured more than 90% marks in SSLC and PU examinations were honoured with ₹ 1,000 cash and a certificate.
