List of honors and nominations for justices of the peace in 2024.

The Government Gazette has published the list of honours and appointments to the positions of Justices of the Peace (JPS) for the year 2024. Today, 502 honours and 59 appointments to the positions of Justices of the Peace (JPS) were announced.

The list of 2024 honorees and the nominations for Justices of the Peace (JPs) will be published in the Official Gazette on July 1.

Dengue fever investigation underway in Tin Shui Wai: public urged to take precautions and stay informed

The Department of Health’s Center for Health Protection (CHP) continued today (June 30) to investigate the dengue fever (DF) case declared on June 28. The CHP again urged the public to practice strict environmental hygiene, mosquito control and personal hygiene. protective measures both locally and while traveling. Meanwhile, people who visited the Tin Shui Estate (1) in Tin Shui Wai with symptoms of DF should contact the CHP as soon as possible.

According to the latest epidemiological investigation results, the CHP has not identified any related cases to date. On June 28, CHP inspected the patient’s residence. In laboratory tests, blood samples of two contacts in the patient’s household tested negative for dengue virus. As of 3 p.m. today, the CHP has contacted over 3,000 residents from over 1,200 households on the Tin Shui (1) Estate in Tin Shui Wai. No suspected case has been identified.

Officers from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) and the Housing Department checked the area around Tin Shui Estate (1) in Tin Shui Wai and stepped up mosquito control measures yesterday morning (June 29). They also advised the cleaning contractor to step up mosquito control measures.

Yesterday evening, at the Tin Shui Community Center, the CHP, together with the FEHD, organized a health talk, during which the CHP also conducted free DF antibody tests for people in the district with appropriate symptoms.

Meanwhile, the CHP is appealing to people who have been to Tin Shui (1) Estate in Tin Shui Wai with symptoms of DF to call the CHP hotline (2125 2374), which is open from 9am to 1pm tomorrow (July 1) and will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from July 2, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) for laboratory tests or referrals, if necessary. DF is clinically characterized by high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, swollen lymph nodes, and rash.

The CHP investigation is ongoing.

The public should pay attention to the following recommendations for mosquito control:

  • Carefully check all traps, roof gutters, surface channels and drains to prevent clogging;
  • At least once a week, drains and surface channels should be scrubbed and cleaned with an alkaline detergent to remove any laid mosquito eggs;
  • Properly dispose of rubbish such as soft drink cans, empty bottles and boxes into covered bins;
  • Completely replace the water in your flowers and plants at least once a week. If possible, avoid using saucers;
  • Before the rainy season, uneven ground surfaces should be leveled;
  • Avoid staying in overgrown areas; I
  • During outdoor activities, wear personal protective equipment such as light-colored clothing and long-sleeved pants, and apply insect repellent containing DEET to clothing and exposed body parts.

  • First, read the instructions on the label carefully;
  • Apply just before entering an area prone to mosquito bites;
  • Apply to exposed skin and clothing;
  • Use DEET up to 30% for pregnant women and up to 10% for children*;
  • First apply sunscreen, then insect repellent; I
  • Reapply only as needed and follow instructions.
  • *For children traveling to countries or areas where mosquito-borne diseases are endemic or epidemic and where exposure to these diseases is likely, children 2 months of age and older may use insect repellents containing DEET with a concentration of DEET up to 30 percent .
