The longevity of an Apple device makes artificial intelligence more important

Apples Devices last longer, so customers don’t have to replace them as often.

And as Bloomberg News reported Sunday (June 30), which could make the tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI) efforts even more important.

To be clear, the report states that Apple strives to make its products extremely durable and claims that devices that are 7 years old can still run current operating systems. However, the report goes on to argue that Apple will be a less reliable source of growth as sales decline.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote that the company could turn things around because it has “a growing opportunity to entice customers with software and artificial intelligence.”

When Apple unveils the iPhone 16 in the fall, it won’t have many hardware changes, but customers will have to buy a new phone if they want it Apple Intelligence offer. He argued that this could also prompt Mac and iPad users to update.

The report said the slowing pace of hardware upgrades will also mean Apple will have to rely more on service fees and subscriptions for fuel sales.

The news comes as Apple is looking for partnerships to expand its AI capabilities. Last week, reports emerged that the company was in talks with Finish about partnership, an idea that Apple ultimately rejected. Like other companies rolling out generative AI products, Meta clearly intended to leverage Apple’s massive distribution network.

Meanwhile, PYMNTS wrote earlier this month that Apple’s new AI efforts could “change the way consumers interact with their devices and, more importantly, how they shop.”

As the report notes, if Apple has its way, consumers’ iPhones will know their purchasing preferences and predict their next purchase. Apple Intelligence will be able to examine their browsing history, purchasing patterns and social media activity.

Experts say the company also wants to change the way companies interact with customers. WITH ChatGPT OpenAI integrationApple products will soon be able to handle customer inquiries, process orders, and even provide product recommendations.

“As consumers become accustomed to AI performing more tasks, their reliance on AI for everyday activities and decision-making is likely to increase. This may change consumer expectations towards more automated and intuitive services,” he added.
