Our 5 favorite gadgets of June

We played with gadgets in June at Gizmodo Australia, including Samsung’s best 4K TV and the cheapest electric car you can buy right now.

Let’s get this show on the road. Here are five of the best and most exciting gadgets Gizmodo Australia the team had the opportunity to play in June.

Telephone Nic 2a

It must be nothing. Friend Gizmodo Australia Alex Kidman reviewed the Nothing Phone 2a, Nothing’s latest smartphone, focusing on the cheaper end of the market while maintaining the brand’s iconic backlit aesthetic. Alex noted that the aesthetic design, from the monochromatic operating system to the “glyph” hardware design, is likely to divide users. Still, the internal specs are great, the battery life is exceptional, and overall, it’s an all-around phone for under $600.

GWM Ora Electric Vehicle

The title of cheapest electric vehicle in Australia goes to the GWM Ora EV, after it was discounted earlier this year – and we finally got to drive it in June. While being the cheapest option is something worth praising, and the car doesn’t have that too poor driving range and looks pretty good, but we were a little put off by how it felt on long trips. Compared to slightly more expensive EVs like the MG4 and BYD Dolphin, it’s a tough sell with the GWM Ora.

Sonos Ace

Sonos’ first foray into on-ear headphones is the Sonos Ace, which features noise cancellation, crisp sound, and a comfortable feel that Athina loved. Battery life was also commendable, and while Sonos had some fine-tuning to do, the headphones are a competitive option at $699.

Samsung QN90D

Samsung has a number of TVs that can claim the ‘Best’ title, but considering its largest size, Neo-QLED technology and 4K resolution, the QN90D may be the best model in Australia. While darkness isn’t as good on this TV as it is on the OLED model, it’s worth noting the enormous size this TV can achieve, as well as the great colors on the panel and the quick response of the operating system. If you’re looking for the best of the best, the QN90D is worth putting on your shortlist.

The Samsung QN90D is available now with prices starting at $1,999 for the 43-inch model and going up to $12,999 for the 98-inch model.

Stoov

According to a friend, the Stoov heated bottle pad can work wonders in cold winter Gizmodo Australia Alice Clarke. The model Alice reviewed, Homey, was a neat battery-powered pillow. It heats up quite quickly and is brilliant for back pain and general aches and pains. It may be too basic compared to our favorite gadgets from June, but maybe that’s all the technology needs.
