Police issue urgent fraud warning after info-stealing device found in grocery ATM

After New Jersey police arrested another person for placing skimming devices on ATMs, police around the world are warning customers as the number of skimming devices continues to rise

New Jersey police issue warning after catching Los Angeles man ‘scamming others using scanning device’

Alexanderu Crisan, 34, of Los Angeles, California, has been charged with fraud for installing a skimming device, according to the Middlesex Police Department. Officers caught him last week, and his case is set for Middlesex Superior Court on July 11.




The Middlesex Borough store was just one of several businesses across the state where ATM skimming devices were discovered this year.

Authorities said skimming devices were also found on ATMs at stores and banks in Cinnaminson, Galloway, Pennsauken, Nutley, Bayonne, Roselle and Union. According to NBCDFW, the devices were installed during the winter at Aldi stores in Roselle and Union.

According to New Jersey radio station 101.5, the device was spotted by a customer on March 22. Earlier this year, two men were arrested in Westfield, New Jersey, in connection with ATM skimming devices. They were charged with installing devices in ATMs in the city.
