Diri and Muftwang sign a solar and gas deal

Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri and his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Muftwang, have signed a memorandum of understanding on electricity, renewable energy, gas and agricultural products.

The agreement, signed recently in Lisbon, Portugal, at the Foreign Investment Network’s annual international business roundtable and the Forbes Best of Africa Award ceremony, which recognizes outstanding leaders, is expected to shift countries’ attitudes towards positive economic growth.

The cooperation agreement will also enable Baymat Energy and the Africa Energy Council to invest in the two countries to provide hydro, solar and gas power, which will contribute to job creation and poverty alleviation.

In a statement Sunday, Diri and Muftwang were said to have signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of their states and Faction AI, represented by co-founder Max Garza III – Faction AI Smart City, for $1 billion.

Other agreements signed by the two countries include ChinnanMclean-Dikwal’s $200 million investment in solar power plants in Plateau and Bayelsa and Baymat International’s venture in partnership with the Africa Energy Council and others.

The event also saw the presentation of FIN-Forbes Best of Africa Awards to two governors and four other African leaders.

Mutfwang reportedly won the Forbes Best of Africa Visionary Leadership Award, while Diri received the Forbes Best of Africa Outstanding Leadership Award.

In a statement signed by FIN’s Director of Investment, Promotion and Strategy, Kenneth Beregh, the organizers explained the nature of the awards and revealed that the winners have demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision and dedication to their fields, inspiring positive change and development in their countries and across the continent.

In her keynote speech, the President of the Foreign Investment Network, Ms. Olayinka Fayomi, encouraged participants to use the platform to network and build connections, highlighting FIN’s role in unlocking Africa’s potential.
