All fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts, including sparklers, firecrackers, and cherry blossoms.

In Massachusetts, people using fireworks must have a certificate of competency to legally work on professional fireworks displays. The use, possession and sale of any type of fireworks is illegal. This includes fireworks purchased legally elsewhere and brought into Massachusetts, sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs and other fireworks. Fines range from $10 to $1,000, and some violations can result in one year in prison.

Over the past five years, there have been more than 500 fires and explosions in Massachusetts caused by illegal fireworks. More than 200 people required treatment for burns and other injuries.
