Dirac and Bluesound collaborate to deliver Dirac Live devices

Integration will enable Dirac room correction features on select Bluesound devices with the purchase of a microphone accessory kit and license

Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac and Bluesound, manufacturers of high-quality multi-room audio streaming devices, have announced a collaboration to integrate Dirac’s award-winning Dirac Live Room Correction solution with select Bluesound devices.

According to Fredric Tapper, Dirac’s Vice President of Home & Pro Audio, this first collaboration with Bluesound represents a significant milestone for the company as it continues to strengthen its position as the industry’s leading provider of digital room correction technology – both in the high end of the home theater market. and now in the market for wireless multiroom streaming.

“The way consumers listen to music at home is changing; while dedicated listening rooms were once the norm, the listening space is now the entire home—living room, kitchen, bedrooms, basements, and more,” says Fredric. “However, this expanded definition of the listening space has created new challenges for high-fidelity sound reproduction, as outdoor spaces with dynamic sizes and room dimensions can significantly impact sound quality. This industry-first collaboration with Bluesound addresses these challenges by delivering high-fidelity sound in any room or listening space, no matter how complex.”

Powered by patented technologies, Dirac Live is one of the market’s leading room correction solutions. The system automatically solves the common acoustic problems that all home audio systems face, but the hardware alone can’t handle it – or it takes too much time, expertise or cost.

The software’s developers say it’s unique because it corrects both the volume and phase of the entire sound system, including the room itself – resulting in clearer, more balanced sound, stronger bass, better soundstage and greater clarity.

“At Bluesound, we believe that consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice sound quality for streaming convenience – and that streaming multi-room audio doesn’t have to come at the expense of high-quality sound reproduction,” says Matt Simmonds, Product Manager at Bluesound. “Hi-fi is deeply embedded in our DNA, which is why we’re so excited to partner with Dirac, a company that shares our commitment to audio innovation and the pursuit of perfect sound. These Dirac Ready Bluesound devices will set new standards of performance in the WiFi-based multi-room audio streaming market.”

Future Bluesound devices will be Dirac Live ready by purchasing a Dirac Live license through the Dirac website. Backward compatibility with existing Bluesound devices is also being explored, and rollout plans for eligible models will be made available at a later date. The calibration kit will be available for sale on Bluesound.com when the first enabled Bluesound player becomes available. To be notified when Bluesound devices are Dirac Ready, click here.
