Have you seen these amazing pet gadgets?

Every second home in the UK has a pet, and they are now equipped with everything from luxury grooming equipment to dog webcams.

Using ‘smart home’ technology, owners can stay in touch with their pets from anywhere in the world, receiving alerts when they leave their ‘safe zone’ and checking in on what’s going on via a webcam.

Here are the best pet gadgets on the market today, from high-tech, “connected” pet gadgets to toys that will keep your furry friends busy for hours.

PetCube Bites Wi-Fi Camera

This £150 two-way camera will let you keep an eye on your dog when you’re out and about, and can be controlled via an app from anywhere in the world.

The built-in camera and speakers allow owners to interact with their pets through the app as well. It’s also compatible with Amazon Alexa voice commands, so owners can say things like, “Alexa, ask Petcube to give my pet a treat,” or “Alexa, ask Petcube to play with my pet.”

The built-in treat dispenser can dispense food to your pets in response to commands from the app or Alexa.

Frolicat Bolt Automatic Laser Flashlight

This automatic laser toy costs £16 and means your cat won’t have to work too hard to chase a laser pointer.

Just turn on the device and it will direct the laser beam to the other side of the room while your pet chases the light point across the floor.

The device is powered by four AA batteries and has a 15-minute timer to prevent your cat from running out of energy.

Vodafone Kippy

Vodafone’s £40 Kippy tracker tracks where your pet is. It uses a GPS collar that sends data directly to you via a built-in SIM card.

It offers alerts if your pet wanders off, and it also tracks your pet’s daily activity in a FitBit-like way. You can see your pet’s location in real time, and you’ll also receive alerts if your pet is less active than usual or hasn’t met its daily activity goal.

The Safe Zones feature means Kippy can remember your “safe” boundaries and will immediately warn you if your pet crosses them.

Netatmo Welcome with animal detection

Netatmo home security cameras automatically recognize animals. You can set them to notify you when your dog or cat walks in front of them, so you can keep an eye on what your furry friend is up to.

Users receive notifications on their smartphones via the Netatmo app, or you can set the £200 Welcome to automatically ignore animals and only notify when a human walks in front of the camera (e.g. when there’s a risk of an intruder).

Pawbo Munch

This treat dispenser (£109) comes with a fruit machine-style game that cats and dogs can play to win treats.

Animals must match symbols on the screen before the machine starts coughing up food. It has a built-in LED display, speakers and a treat dispenser, and can also play music to keep animals interested.

Munch can be controlled via the Pawbo app and a compatible Pawbo webcam.

Dyson Care

This Dyson vacuum cleaner attachment, costing £40, lets you vacuum hair directly from your dog’s body.

Manufacturers claim it also removes dry skin cells and ensures your home is free of dog hair and skin. The attachment works with large and medium-sized dogs, and Dyson promises that the suction power remains at a “comfortable” level.

The attachment fits most Dyson upright and cylinder vacuum cleaners.

SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap

This £52 ‘smart’ cat flap recognises the microchip in your pet’s collar and opens so your cat can come and go freely, but other animals can’t.

The microchip reader recognizes up to 32 “registered” animals from its memory, making the device suitable even for households with a large number of animals.

The microchip reader offers 12 months of battery life and has a low battery indicator that alerts users when the AA batteries need to be replaced.

Healthy Pet Simply Feed Programmable Digital Pet Feeder

This automatic digital pet feeder (£136.99) is fully programmable, meaning you can set it to give out up to 12 meals a day at specific times.

The feeder is equipped with a large hopper with a capacity of 5.6 litres and can be adjusted to dispense dry food in portions of up to 946 ml.

PetSafe Automatic Ball Launcher

This tennis ball launcher (£129.99) can shoot balls up to 30ft and has motion sensors so you don’t accidentally shoot other people (or your dog).

The device has nine distance settings and six angle settings, as well as an automatic “rest” mode to keep your dog from getting too tired.
