Power: Upgraded substation to benefit over 350 industries in Sector 63, Noida | Noida News

Noida: Over 350 industries, mostly small and medium, in Sector 63 are set to get better power supply as the local substation has been upgraded. As part of the plan, 14 new power panels have been installed and several old and damaged VCBs have been replaced at the substation in Sector 63 on June 30, officials said. VCBs help check short circuits as it is a device that helps prevent unintended currents caused due to short circuits in electrical systems. “This will improve power supply to industrial sectors connected to the substation in Sector 63. Some of them include Sectors 62, 63, 67 etc,” said Vishal Malik, SDO of substation in Sector 63. Around 350 industries from both Blocks A and B will benefit from the upgrade or repair of electrical infrastructure, the official said. According to Shivam Tripathi, executive engineer at PVVNL, the cost of repair or upgrade has come to Rs 65 lakh. Tripathi also mentioned that several business plans are in the works for repairing and upgrading the city’s power distribution systems to improve power supply. “We are happy with the work done for the industrial sector, but much more is needed as the problem of power cuts caused due to decades of poor infrastructure persists,” said Harish Joneja, senior vice-president of the traders’ association. TOI had earlier reported on June 15 that despite allocation of 24-hour power supply to GB industries, traders have been complaining of regular power cuts lasting for 2-4 hours since summer. There are over 20,000 industries in GB Nagar, of which nearly 2,000 complain of routine power cuts due to poor power infrastructure. These are mostly small industries of garments, automobiles, mobile phone spare parts, electronics etc.
