Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Sugar Stocks Rise as Market Gains

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks ended higher on Tuesday with top gainers including Sakthi Sugars Ltd. (up 7.60%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. (up 6.63%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd. (up 4.98%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (up 4.98%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (up 4.79%), Mawana Sugars Ltd. (up 4.67%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (up 4.37%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd. (up 4.20%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (up 4.09%) and Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd. (up 3.14%).

The day’s top losers included DCM Shriram Industries Ltd. (down 1.35%), EID Parry(India) Ltd. (down 0.71%), Ponni Sugars(Erode) Ltd. (down 0.53%) and Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. (down 0.48%).

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day up 112.66 points at 24,433.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed 391.26 points higher at 80,351.64.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (up 6.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (up 2.61%), ITC Ltd. (up 2.03%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 1.97%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (up 1.87%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 1.87%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 1.81%), Cipla Ltd. (up 1.69%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (up 1.59%) and Eicher Motors Ltd. (up 1.57%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (down 0.75%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (down 0.67%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 0.58%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (down 0.57%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 0.43%), JSW Steel Ltd. (down 0.42%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (down 0.29%), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 0.28%), Infosys Ltd. (down 0.28%) and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (down 0.27%) ended in the red.
