Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Energy Stocks Down, Sensex Down

NEW DELHI: Energy stocks were trading lower at 11:05 am on Wednesday, with GE Power India Ltd. (up 2.31%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (up 0.73%), CESC Ltd. (up 0.59%), GE T&D India Ltd. (up 0.32%) and Torrent Power Ltd. (up 0.29%) leading gainers.

Karma Energy Ltd. (down 5.01%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd. (down 5.00%), KEC International Ltd. (down 4.04%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd. (down 3.78%), Jyoti Structures Ltd. (down 3.13%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India) Ltd. (down 3.09%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (down 2.99%), SJVN Ltd. (down 2.99%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (down 2.58%) and Inox Wind Energy Ltd. (down 2.57%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 210.66 points at 24,222.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 705.9 points at 79,645.74 at around 11:05 am.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (up 1.26%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 0.88%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 0.62%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (up 0.61%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 0.45%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 0.41%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 0.35%), Asian Paints Ltd. (up 0.22%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (up 0.19%) and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (up 0.07%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (down 6.56%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (down 2.54%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 2.05%), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 2.01%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.95%), Tata Motors Ltd. (down 1.62%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (down 1.49%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (down 1.37%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (down 1.37%) and State Bank of India (down 1.31%) were trading in the red.
