Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart on Wednesday announced a partnership with payment solutions company BillDesk to expand its digital payments offering to five new categories.

The expansion covers recharge and bill payment categories including FasTag, DTH recharges, landline, broadband and postpaid mobile bill payments on the Flipkart app.

The domestic marketplace has partnered with BillDesk to integrate the new services with the Bharat Bill Payments System (BBPS) developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

The new services complement the existing options for paying electricity bills and topping up prepaid mobile phones.

“We have differentiated our service offerings in line with Flipkart’s vision to simplify the digital payments process for customers and achieve the government’s vision of a cashless economy.

“With this enhancement, customers now have access to a one-stop solution that allows them to fulfill all their needs, from purchasing their favorite products to fulfilling their digital payment requirements, anytime, anywhere, in a secure and hassle-free manner,” said Gaurav Arora, Vice President, Payments and SuperCoins, Flipkart.

In March this year, the Bengaluru-based company, in partnership with Axis Bank, launched its UPI ID @fkaxis to facilitate online and offline merchant transactions on and off the Flipkart platform.
