Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Fertilizer Stocks Fall as Market Falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilisers shares closed lower on Wednesday, with Coromandel International Ltd. (up 0.08%) among the top gainers.

Madras Fertilizers Ltd. (down 5.65%), Agro Phos India Ltd. (down 5.32%), The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (down 5.27%), Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd. (down 4.92%), National Fertilizers Ltd. (down 4.91%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd. (down 4.77%), Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Ltd. (down 3.87%), Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd. (down 3.06%), Aries Agro Ltd. (down 2.81%) and Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals Ltd. (down 2.74%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day down 108.75 points at 24,324.45, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 426.87 points at 79,924.77.

Asian Paints Ltd. (up 3.15%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 2.24%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 1.87%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 1.53%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 1.47%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 1.46%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (up 1.44%), NTPC Ltd. (up 1.16%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (up 0.88%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (up 0.83%) were among the top gainers on the Nifty.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (down 6.62%), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 2.23%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (down 1.92%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (down 1.44%), State Bank of India (down 1.43%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (down 1.39%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 1.08%), JSW Steel Ltd. (down 1.06%) and Wipro Ltd. (down 1.01%) ended in the red.
