Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Mining Stocks Rise as Sensex Falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher at 11:26 am on Thursday, with Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd. (up 6.51%), Coal India Ltd. (up 2.87%), Pokarna Ltd. (up 2.65%), 20 Microns Ltd. (up 2.17%), KIOCL Ltd. (up 1.65%), MOIL Ltd. (up 1.49%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd. (up 1.08%), Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd. (up 1.06%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd. (up 0.98%) and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (up 0.83%) among the top gainers.

Ashapura Minechem Ltd. (down 0.78%) was among the biggest losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 60.71 points at 24,263.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 263.55 points at 79,661.22 at around 11:26 am.

Coal India Ltd. (up 2.87%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (up 2.22%), Tata Motors Ltd. (up 1.56%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (up 1.29%), ITC Ltd. (up 1.04%), Tata Steel Ltd. (up 1.0%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 0.97%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (up 0.77%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 0.69%) and Adani Enterprises Ltd. (up 0.59%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (down 1.38%), Nestle India Ltd. (down 1.38%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (down 1.38%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (down 1.24%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (down 1.23%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (down 1.11%), Axis Bank Ltd. (down 1.08%), Tech Mahindra Ltd. (down 1.04%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 0.98%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (down 0.97%) were trading in the red.
