7th Asian Short Course on Agrobiotechnology, Biosafety Regulation and Communication (ASCA7) – Crop Biotechnology Update (July 11, 2024) | Crop Biotechnology Update

July 11, 2024

The International Service for Acquisition of Agro-Biotechnology Applications, Inc. (ISAAA Inc.) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) are now accepting applications for the program 7th Asian Short Course on Agro-Biotechnology, Biosafety Regulation and Communication (ASCA7). This intensive 5-day program, which will take place from September 2-6, 2024 at the Maruay Garden Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, is co-organized by the Department of Agriculture and Biotechnology Alliance Association.

ASCA7 is designed for scientists, regulators, communicators and other stakeholders in the Asian biotechnology sector. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of modern agribiotechnology, focusing on:

  • The value chain for research, development, commercialization and trade of living genetically modified organisms (LMOs) and genetically modified crops/organisms
  • National and international regulations governing genetically modified products (GMOs) and genetically modified products (GMOs)
  • Effective Communication Strategies for Agricultural Biotechnology Innovation and Biosecurity Regulation
  • Bioethical Considerations and Responsible Management Practices
  • The Role of Science Diplomacy in International Negotiations

Since its inception in 2018, ASCA has trained over 200 key biotech players in Asia. This program promotes collaboration between scientists, regulators, communicators and the private sector, ensuring that science and regulation evolve together. This collaborative approach maximizes the benefits of modern biotechnology to society while minimizing potential risks.
