JKTPO e-commerce campaign supports local entrepreneurs in Baramulla

Baramulla, July 15: In a major move to promote local entrepreneurship, the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in collaboration with the Baramulla district administration organised an e-commerce introduction drive at Dakbungalow Baramulla.

The aim of this initiative is to stimulate economic growth by increasing the potential of local entrepreneurs.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, accompanied by General Manager District Industry Center Baramulla, addressed the forum. In his address, DC highlighted the key role of digital commerce in business growth, providing valuable insights on e-commerce network and its multiple benefits.

The main objective of the campaign was to reach out to the grassroots level, promote local products and educate entrepreneurs and artisans on the benefits of selling products on e-commerce platforms. This campaign is part of a series of planned campaigns across the Union Territory aimed at introducing local products to e-commerce platforms.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from 250 participants including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, growers and FPOs. The benefits of adopting e-commerce platforms were highlighted, encouraging participants to join the online marketplace.

During the day-long event, 25 attendees registered on-site, free of charge, while others began the onboarding process. In-depth expert sessions explored the benefits of e-commerce platforms, increasing attendee understanding and readiness.

This campaign is in line with JKTPO’s strategy to support local exporters by providing diverse marketing platforms and forward-looking links.

The JKTPO representatives highlighted the importance of ODOP (One District One Product) and DEH (District Export Hub) initiatives. Furthermore, the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) representative gave a detailed presentation on the registration process and facilitated the participants to enter the GeM portal.

The highlight of the event was the one-on-one onboarding sessions, enabling merchants and partners to integrate directly with the GeM marketplace. This hands-on approach allowed participants to quickly join the digital marketplace.

The event showcased the commitment of JKTPO and District Administration to empower local entrepreneurs, facilitating their entry into the global e-commerce landscape. By providing a platform for small businesses to reach a global audience, this initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for the vibrant entrepreneurial community in Jammu and Kashmir.
