BJP-led central government hell-bent on constitutional change: Priyanka Gandhi | India news

GODDA: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday alleged that the BJP-led central government wanted to change the constitution at any cost, which has weakened institutions such as parliament and the judiciary over the last 10 years. Vadra, speaking at an election rally in Godda, also said that all those who oppose the Centre’s policies are victims.

“If they (BJP) come to power again, they will change the constitution and restrict reservations. Over the last 10 years, they have weakened democracy, as well as institutions such as parliament and the judiciary,” she said.

Vadra said that unlike the BJP government, the Congress’s policy is aimed at strengthening the rights of tribals.

“Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi has put former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren behind bars based on false cases and his wife Kalpana is fighting like a lioness… Earlier there were debates in Parliament on making laws, but now they (BJP leaders) are attacking the opposition,” said the Congress leader.

She also claimed that the Prime Minister accepted a “donation of Rs 52 crore” from a Covid vaccine company.

“The vaccine is currently causing reactions in people’s bodies; many of them suddenly lost their lives at the gym or at work,” she said.

Vadra said the BJP thought of going smoothly by putting Hemant Soren behind bars, but instead, “tribals have emerged stronger and are challenging the saffron party for its anti-tribal policies.”

“The BJP-led central government is shaping policies for billionaires and has sold national assets like airports and ports to industrialists. He also waived Rs 16 lakh crore to a few billionaires but did not provide any help to farmers who commit suicide,” she said.

Vadra claimed that capitalists are “looking at your ‘Jal, Jungle and Jameen’ (water, forest and land)” and Godda is an example of this, where the Adani Group has built a mega power plant, but “electricity is not available to the poor here.”

“Your land, your water… has been handed over to the Prime Minister’s friend, billionaire Adani… this is the policy of the BJP,” the Congress leader said.

She also claimed that 70 crore youths in the country were unemployed when the BJP handed over the country’s assets to capitalists.

Vadra mocked Godda’s BJP candidate Nishikant Dubey without mentioning his name and said that although he is never present in the area, he remains “busy in entertaining capitalists”.

She assured that the Congress-led government would work for women, farmers and youth who “have been neglected by the BJP all along”.
