MoCI discusses the challenges facing the logistics services sector

Doha, May 22 (QNA) – The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoCI) organized a roundtable discussion with several logistics companies to discuss the main challenges facing the logistics services sector and find solutions to help it grow.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Undersecretary for Industry and Business Development Saleh bin Majid Al Khulaifi.

A statement from MoCI today said that this session is one of a series of meetings organized by MoCI with the private sector to discuss and assess the obstacles facing a number of major sectors in the country, one of which is the logistics services sector as part of its desire to support these sectors and ensure all means of supporting enterprises operating there, facilitating current procedures, learning about the most important global practices and finding appropriate solutions for the appropriate business environment in the State of Qatar.

The meeting touched on several topics, including: the key challenges facing companies operating in the logistics services sector, their impact on regional expansion efforts, the impact of applicable laws, regulations and customs procedures on logistics activities, regulatory changes that will benefit the logistics sector and how partnerships can be benefited between the public and private sectors to improve the logistics services sector in Qatar.

It also discussed the obstacles to attracting skilled workers, strategies that can be used to address this shortage, technologies that should be prioritized to increase the efficiency of the sector, as well as the ease of access to and use of commercial platforms such as marketplaces and facilitation systems and forwarding platforms throughout the country.

It also highlighted MoCI’s key projects and initiatives aimed at developing the logistics services sector, and reviewed a number of proposals to support project success and mitigate these challenges.
