The genocidal policies of Netanyahu: Erdoğan must be put to an end

ANKARA

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again called on the international community to stop Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the “reckless Israeli government” from continuing their genocidal policies at the expense of the safety of their own citizens.

“The international community’s responsibilities are clear in stopping Israeli atrocities and ensuring the safety of our Palestinian brothers. However, despite this, no steps have been taken to prevent the massacre,” Erdoğan said at a joint press conference with visiting Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu at the presidential complex in Ankara.

“Netanyahu and his reckless government continue their policy of genocide at the cost of threatening the security of their own citizens. Now we need to put an end to it,” he continued.

Erdoğan stated that he and Ciolacu discussed regional and global developments, with the conflict in Gaza being the main issue.

“I am confident that our ally Romania will contribute adequately to international efforts on this issue,” Erdoğan said.

The president stated that a Russia-Ukraine war was also under consideration and that since the beginning of the conflict, Ankara has consistently made significant contributions “to ending hostilities, ensuring global food security and maintaining the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.”

Six agreements were signed in the presence of both leaders, covering areas such as community security, urban planning, tourism, industry and training of law enforcement personnel. This marks a step in the strategic partnership established between the two countries in 2011

Wishing that the decisions taken and agreements signed at the Council meeting would be beneficial to both countries, Erdoğan said that the next meeting would be held in Bucharest.

“We will continue to work with Romania, our NATO ally, strategic partner and Black Sea neighbor, to improve our relations in the interest of our countries,” he said.

The goal is to achieve bilateral trade volume of $15 billion

Stating that the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Romania has exceeded $10 billion for two consecutive years, Erdoğan said the goal is to reach “$15 billion.”

Erdoğan also said that Ankara has implemented a passport-free policy for Romanian travelers.

“We have implemented a regulation that will allow Romanian citizens to travel to our country based on their ID cards,” he said.

Romanian citizens will not be required to obtain a visa for tourist stays and transit trips lasting up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

The decision only applies to Romanian citizens traveling to Türkiye, as Turkish citizens intending to travel to the Balkan country will still be required to obtain visas.

Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s Schengen free movement area on March 31, marking a new step in both countries’ integration with the EU.

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced last month that direct investments from Turkey to Romania had reached $7.5 billion.

He added that Romania ranks first in Europe in the contracting sector and is among the top ten EU member states in terms of investments by Turkish companies.
