EEOC Releases Final Rules of the Pregnant Employees Fairness Act

The long-awaited Pregnant Worker Fairness Act (PWFA) was unveiled by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and published this morning. The recipe will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 19, but the unpublished recipe is already available. The rule will come into effect 60 days from April 19 (June 18, 2024), so now is the time for employers to familiarize themselves with accommodation requirements for pregnant employees. There is little case law regarding PWFA, so the regulations provide much-needed guidance.
