Apple is seeking to invalidate nearly $2 billion in EU antitrust fines

Apple Inc. intends to invalidate an EU antitrust fine of 1.8 billion euros ($1.9 billion) imposed in March for obstructing fair competition from music streaming competitors including Spotify Technology SA, Business Standard reports. The company filed a lawsuit with the General Court of the EU in Luxembourg. The criminal investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by Spotify alleging that the company was forced to raise the price of monthly subscriptions to cover costs related to Apple’s alleged control over the operation of the App Store.
