Suspect arrested after striking two people in stolen car, terminators used – KIRO 7 News Seattle

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department (SPD) arrested a 30-year-old man after police say he tried to flee from officers in a stolen car and crashed into several occupied tents, injuring two people.

On May 5 at approximately 5:40 a.m., police responded to a stolen vehicle with someone sleeping in it near Sixth Avenue South and South Snoqualmie Street. According to SPD, termination devices were deployed and as officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect in the car attempted to flee, causing three tires to flatten.

The man drove into a grassy area, crashing into occupied tents, and people jumped out of the way to avoid injury. Two people lying in one of the tents were hit and the Seattle Fire Department treated them at the scene.

When the car could no longer move, the man tried to hide in a dumpster, covering himself with drywall. The K-9 route led officers directly to the suspect, who was taken into custody.

During the investigation, a weapon was found on the route of the stolen vehicle. The suspect is prohibited by law from possessing weapons. The car was towed and other items associated with it were seized as evidence.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for vehicular assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen vehicle.
