Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is ready to meet all the requirements of big players in the software development sector, said Industries Minister P. Rajeev and assured that the state’s biggest advantage is its abundance of skilled human resources.

Talking to the top management team of German company dSPACE, which inaugurated its first global competence center in Asia here on Wednesday, he said Kerala was rapidly transforming into a knowledge-based economy and society by leveraging its core strengths.

dSPACE provides key solutions to major automotive companies around the world to develop connected, autonomous and electrically powered vehicles.

Rajeev said that Thiruvananthapuram has an ecosystem that is highly conducive to the space, IT and IT sectors. The proposed Space Park will be an additional advantage for the German company, he added.

The minister added that dSPACE can leverage the world-class infrastructure available in the state capital and explore artificial intelligence for its technologies and also reach out to talented youth by creating ample opportunities for them.

In a release, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) Limited said, “The Global Competence Center at Kinfra Park in Kazhakoottam in the city is the first dSPACE facility in Asia, with the other centers located in Germany and Croatia.”

The minister also visited the new facility at Kinfra Film and Video Park in Kazhakoottam and met officials and employees there.

Expressing gratitude to the government for facilitating the establishment of the center, Andreas Gau, Managing Director and CEO, dSPACE India Software and Technologies, said that a competent center will take full responsibility for the products and projects.

Franklin George, managing director, dSPACE India Software and Technologies, said the company scouted in many cities in the country and Kerala was finally selected as the capital city considering the feasibility of setting up such a facility.

He said that the center will work on all next-generation technologies by recruiting talented youth from Kerala.

Stressing that India’s huge automotive market will transform the company’s operations, Elmar Schmitz, vice president of dSPACE, said that the company will employ more people from Kerala and wants to leverage their skills.

Schmitz added that dSPACE selected Kerala considering the world-class infrastructure offered by the state as a thriving ecosystem for global companies for their key operations.
