Boeing delays deliveries to China due to regulatory review – Reuters By Investing.com

Investing.com– Deliveries of Boeing Co (NYSE:) planes to China have been delayed in recent weeks due to a Chinese regulatory review of some cockpit components, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the matter.

The report said the Civil Aviation Administration of China was checking the batteries powering the cockpit voice recorder. Boeing worked with its Chinese customers on the delivery schedule.

A Reuters report shows that Boeing has delivered 22 planes to China in 2024 by the end of April, but has not made any new deliveries in recent weeks.

In January, the planemaker resumed deliveries of its 737 MAX jet to Chinese airlines after a nearly five-year import ban. China was one of the first countries to ground the MAX after two high-profile crashes in 2018 and 2019.

But Beijing’s renewed control over Boeing could now be fueled by trade tensions, especially after the United States imposed increased tariffs on $18 billion of Chinese imports in early May.

China has reportedly banned some U.S. companies from importing and exporting activities related to the country, including arms shipments to Taiwan, and has also banned some companies from making new investments in the mainland. Boeing Defense, Space & Security was included in the list of blacklisted companies.
