JUST IN: Tinubu appoints new heads of 2 federal agencies, details emerge

  • President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a change in the leadership of two federal agencies

State House, Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, May 22, approved the appointment of Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke as Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA).

Woke was the Chief of Staff to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) when he was the Governor of Rivers State.

Wike’s ally, woke up at the helm of NOSDRA, Director General Ashiru OORBDA

According to the statement, the President also appointed Dr. Adedeji Ashiru as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).

Dada Olusegun, special assistant to the president on social media, shared a statement on his X page on Wednesday.

“The President expects the new CEOs to delegate their responsibilities to these critical agencies in order to achieve sustainable gains and improvements, while maintaining maximum transparency in their activities,” Ngelale noted.

Tinubu fires ally Wike

Before, Legit.ng has reported that President Tinubu has removed Chukwuemeka Woke as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority. This followed heavy criticism from some prominent figures in the APC and the public.

In fact, many Nigerians protested against the appointment of the CEO and noted that he is not from the South-West region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, May 22, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that Woke had been replaced by Dr. Adedeji Ashiru.

“Dr. Ashiru holds a PhD in Engineering from Common Wealth University in the UK and has led a consortium of major companies and has achieved many distinctions in his professional career,” Ngelale said.
