Lokpobiri highlights the contribution of green energy to Nigeria’s energy sector

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Petroleum), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has praised the development progress made by Green Energy International Ltd, Nigeria’s leading integrated energy company, describing the company as a shining example in the oil and gas industry.

Lokpobiri stated this while visiting the exhibition booth of Green Energy International during the ongoing Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas, USA

After receiving information about the successful completion of the LPG extraction installation, which is currently undergoing a trial period, the Minister agreed to pay an official visit to the company’s investment site in Nigeria.

“Green Energy International is a great example of what Nigerians can achieve and I commend Green Energy International for their outstanding achievements. I look forward to seeing the impact of their initiatives first-hand during my official visit to their project site in Nigeria. We are proud of you,” said Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.

While the Minister toured Green Energy International’s exhibition stand at OTC 2024, its Chief Operating Officer, Kayode Adegbulugbe, showcased its innovative Otakikpo Marginal Field gas utilization project, detailing the company’s and Nigeria’s first modular liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) extraction plant. as well as gas power plants with a capacity of 20 MW.

This initiative, according to the operational director, will not only strengthen energy security, but will also be a catalyst for the comprehensive development of the region.

“We don’t just focus on energy production; We are committed to contributing to the country’s energy security by supporting sustainable development and contributing to the country’s economic prosperity. We are also transforming our host communities by empowering them, creating opportunities and supporting economic growth,” Adegbulugbe said.

In connection with the ongoing construction of the first onshore terminal for the export of domestic crude oil, carried out by Atlantic Terminal Infrastructure Ltd (ATIL), a strategic partner of GEIL, the company director stated that all stages related to equipment and construction have been achieved for the terminal to be operational in the third quarter of 2024 r.

He said the oil export terminal was designed to help the current administration fulfill its aspiration to increase oil production in Nigeria by giving the abandoned oil fields in the Niger Delta a much-needed evacuation route that was lacking.

Once commissioned, it will be the first crude oil export terminal built by a domestic company and the first in 50 years.

Expressing gratitude for the Minister’s visit, the president and CEO of Green Energy International Limited, prof. Anthony Adegbulugbe, emphasized the company’s commitment to Nigeria’s energy security goals and its aspiration to achieve a production target of 4 million barrels per day.

According to him, Senator Lokpobiri’s visit highlights the government’s recognition of the key role played by indigenous energy companies such as Green Energy International in developing the Nigerian energy sector and supporting socio-economic development.

Prof. Adegbulugbe emphasized that the company is committed to driving sustainable development through innovative energy solutions. With a focus on gas utilization and other robust energy initiatives, Green Energy International Limited seeks to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s energy security and economic growth goals.
