Even before the pandemic, the field of public health was experiencing rapid growth, with the number of public health degrees awarded increasing by more than 300% between 1992 and 2016. Interest in health professions has increased even further following the emergence of Covid-19 internationally, with some Master of Public Health (MPH) programs seeing their largest ever year-on-year increase in applications. This interest has not waned much.

“Students continue to show great interest in various areas of public health,” says Toy Draine, director of career services at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. “The program continues to grow and our student population continues to grow.”
