Develop strategies to improve productivity levels in the public service

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on key players in the public sector to develop strategies to increase productivity in public service organizations.

He stressed that this is crucial to ensuring that performance-related payments become a standard principle for effective pay administration.

Addressing the 11th Annual Conference of Chairmen, Councils, Chief Executives and Chief Executive Officers of the Ghana Public Service in Kwahu Nkwatia in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, President Akufo-Addo called on stakeholders to adopt and initiate actions to embed digitalization and business processes in the service public.

“The Public Services Commission, working with the Fair Pay and Remuneration Commission and the governing council, should develop strategies to improve productivity levels in public service organizations so that paying for productivity becomes an established principle of effective pay administration.

“The Public Service Commission should formulate regulations and standards that manage public service human resources in a more scientific way to achieve better results.”

“The Public Service Commission should accelerate the process of amending the act regulating the functioning of the commission. These changes are intended to strengthen the commission in the performance of its basic functions under the constitution.

“All public service organizations work with the Public Service Commission as the regulator in a collaborative and committed way to establish standard practice across the public sector. This will significantly increase the trust of citizens and employees in public sector organizations,” he said.

Echoing the theme of “Repositioning Ghana’s Public Sector to Embrace Digital Transformation for Better Performance in the Face of Global Economic Challenges”, President Akufo Addo urged all members to take up the challenge of digital transformation to support a stronger and more resilient economy.
