Iberdrola and Bayer have extended their cooperation with an 11-year green power purchase agreement (PPA) in Italy, starting in January 2025, for a total amount of 33 GWh. This agreement strengthens their international alliance, complementing existing agreements in Spain and Mexico, and promotes sustainable energy consumption. The Bayer Garbagnate factory in Milan will run solely on renewable electricity, underlining the pharmaceutical company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The energy will be produced by the Montefiascone photovoltaic power plant in Lazio, the second Iberdrola solar power plant in Italy, with a total installed capacity of 7 MW. Once operational, the plant will prevent the emission of over 3,200 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to the electricity needs of over 4,000 homes.

Iberdrola is committed to developing strategies and solutions for the decarbonization of industry through renewable energy and the promotion of self-consumption, reducing the impact on the environment. With the opening of the second plant and the completion of approved photovoltaic projects, Iberdrola aims to achieve an operational capacity of 400 MW in Italy by 2025.
