Stock Sectors: Stock Update: Mining Stocks Fall as Market Rise

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks closed higher during Thursday’s session.

Top gainers included Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd. (up 4.96%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd. (up 1.08%) and The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd. (up 0.02%).

NMDC Ltd. (down 2.62%), Lexus Granito(India) Ltd. (down 2.13%), Pokarna Ltd. (down 1.86%), 20 Microns Ltd. (down 1.54 %), Oriental Trimex Ltd. (down 1.12%), KIOCL Ltd. (down 0.89%), Coal India Ltd. (down 0.88%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd. (down by 0.73%), MOIL Ltd. (down 0.64%) and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (down 0.54%) were among the biggest losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the session up 369.86 points at 22,967.65, while the 30-share BSE Sensex ended up 1,196.98 points at 75,418.04.

Adani Enterprises Ltd. (up 7.85%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (up 4.73%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (up 3.6%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. ( up 3.5%), Axis Bank Ltd. (up 3.49%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (up 3.36%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (up 3.23%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (up 2.99%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (up 2.79%) and Shriram Finance Ltd. .(up 2.73%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack. In turn, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (down by 2.88%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (down by 1.8%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down by 1.14%), Coal India Ltd. ( down 0.88%), NTPC Ltd. (down 0.42%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (down 0.22%) closed in the red.
