The new Google Weather app is being rolled out widely across Android devices

In 2023, Google launched a new Weather app for Pixel phones with a nice new design and some additional features. After outselling the Pixel in small tests last year, Google now appears to be making the redesigned Google Weather app widely available on Android.

The new Material You-full Google Weather app debuted on Pixel and Pixel Fold tablets in mid-2023. The new app has been drastically redesigned and added more colors, more data, and a “NowCast” feature. This new forecast tool offers Dark Sky-like precipitation forecasts using machine learning. By October 2023, the app has been expanded to older Pixel devices as well.

However, for a while, the app was exclusive to Pixel.

In December 2023, the new Google Weather app began appearing on additional Android devices, namely Samsung devices. However, at the time it was a fairly limited rollout. Now it appears that it will be implemented much more widely.

Starting today, we were able to access the new Google Weather app on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, OnePlus Open, and Honor Magic 6 RSR in short, limited testing. Another user also noticed the new look of his Nokia 4.2, a device that was stuck on Android 11. All indications are that the redesign is now generally available on Android devices.

The odd case of “Pixel Weather” keeps popping up in recent Android beta updates, but it’s great to see this new design being more widely implemented.
