NV Energy and City of Reno Sign Clean Energy Agreement

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – NV Energy and the City of Reno have signed a new energy agreement to support the city’s clean energy initiatives.

This Energy Partnership Agreement creates a space for us to collaborate on our shared energy improvement goals and work together to achieve them,” said Ryan Bellows, vice president of government and external relations for NV Energy. “Reno and NV Energy are committed to working together to support and advance each other’s visions for the benefit of residents and businesses in our community.”

This agreement was signed together with the renewal of the NV Energy contracts and the municipal electricity and gas supply contracts.

“Our actions today will have a real impact on generations to come,” said Reno Vice Mayor Naomi Duerr. “This agreement represents a shared vision of a sustainable and resilient community. Together, we are prioritizing long-term health and well-being in the Biggest Little City.”

The City of Reno hopes that the agreement will:

  • Accelerating the conversion of NV Energy streetlights in the City of Reno to LED bulbs by the end of 2026.
  • NV Energy’s focus on redeveloping older and unreliable electrical facilities to improve reliability in Reno areas
  • Implementing renewable energy and community resource projects to serve customers in Reno
  • Cooperation to accelerate the development of electric vehicle infrastructure in the city
  • Improving communication about tree trimming, tree trimming and disaster protection work taking place in Reno
