The Prime Minister promises new support for families after the European elections

(Intime News)

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Thursday that the government is planning a series of measures to support families after the European Parliament elections, as well as measures to reduce high housing costs as part of the fight against falling birth rates.

Speaking at the “Demography 2024 – A National Priority” summit at the Acropolis Museum, he said government policy aims to ensure that all parents have access to nurseries and day care facilities, both in the public and private sectors, while emphasizing the importance of all-day schools.

“Getting results in solving the demographic problem requires patience and a lot of time. There are no magic solutions,” he said, adding that adapting all government policies aimed at supporting young families was his top priority.

Mitsotakis pointed to the recently increased maternity allowance to €2,400 and added that the Moje Mieszkanie program is an “impressive success.”
