Leading caller ID app Truecaller on Wednesday announced a partnership with Microsoft to leverage the tech giant’s new “Personal Voice” technology from the tech giant’s Azure AI Speech, which will allow users to create a digital version of their own voice for use in its AI Assistant. Introduced in 2022, Truecaller’s AI assistant includes a host of AI technologies that can automatically answer phone calls, monitor calls, receive messages, reply on your behalf, or record a call for later viewing.

“The personal voice feature allows our users to use their own voice, allowing the digital assistant to sound just like them when handling incoming calls,” Raphael Mimoun, director of product and CEO of Truecaller Israel, said in a statement. “Not only does this groundbreaking feature add a touch of familiarity and comfort to users, but it also demonstrates the power of artificial intelligence in changing the way we interact with our digital assistants,” he added.

The addition of Microsoft’s Personal Voice technology to Truecaller’s AI Assistant means that if you already have an Assistant in your app, you can make your callers hear a replicated and authentic version of your voice instead of one of the many digital assistants on offer. The company says this feature is being rolled out gradually across all Truecaller markets.
