ZURICH, May 23 (Reuters)Swiss engineering group ABB ABBN.S said Thursday it will make two new appointments to its executive committee starting in August.

The company said that Giampiero Frisio will become the new president of the Electrification business area and Brandon Spencer will be the new president of the Motion business area. Both will assume their new roles and join the executive committee on August 1.

Frisio, an Italian who has been president of the Smart Power division (electrification business area) since 2018, will replace Morten Wierod, who will become the new CEO of ABB from August 1.

Spencer, a US citizen who has been president of the Energy Industries division (process automation business area) since 2020, will succeed Tarak Mehta, who is leaving ABB after more than 25 years at ABB to become CEO of the Timken Group.

The company also said that Mathias Gaertner will join the commission on or before October 1, 2024 as general counsel and company secretary.
