Wellington Council is seeking public comment on its growth plan

The strategy sets out a long-term plan for the development of six major urban centers in Wellington, including Sale/Wurruk/Longford, Maffra, Stratford, Heyfield, Rosedale and Yarram – presenting key opportunities for job creation and investment to drive economic growth.

The strategy also takes into account important factors such as demographic changes, economic growth, state government policies, climate change and housing costs. They are central to land-use planning across Wellington.

Mayor of Wellington Shire Council, Cr Ian Bye, urged the community to read the draft strategy and share their views.

“The input of our residents is essential to adapt the strategy to the needs and aspirations of our communities.

“This strategy will give the Council, agencies, investors and, more importantly, the community, clear direction on our long-term development plans. By working together, we can create a growth plan that will improve the quality of life, sustainability and success of our municipality.” Cr Bye said.

The community is invited to provide feedback on the draft strategy, which will be used to prepare the final strategy.
