365 Retail Markets acquires Impulsify to expand unattended retail sales

365 Retail Markets has acquired Impulsify, saying the move will pave the way for 365 to provide more self-service retail solutions.

The acquisition adds Impulsify self-service retail locations for hotel chains and boutique properties to 365 Retail Markets’ existing unattended retail technology offering, the companies said in a Thursday (May 23) news release.

“At 365, we believe in providing the most convenient and enjoyable self-service retail experience in the world,” Joe Hessling, founder and CEO of 365 Retail Markets, said in the release. “The Impulsify team shares this passion, and together we are ready to offer solutions at even more touchpoints in consumers’ everyday lives.”

According to the release, 365 provides a suite of self-service technologies that power food retail spaces in corporate offices, manufacturing and distribution facilities, educational campuses and other food service operators.

According to the release, the company’s offerings include software as a service (SaaS), payment processing hardware and point of sale (POS) hardware.

According to the publication, with the addition of Impulsify’s technology, 365 will expand into the hospitality industry “and beyond.”

“We see this opportunity as a way to leverage what we’ve proudly built at Impulsify, building on the 365 experience and established trust in the self-service industry to meet the growing demand for these types of solutions in even more places” – Janine Williams, founder of Impulsify, he said in a statement.

PYMNTS Intelligence found that 84% of U.S. consumers prefer self-checkout kiosks, and 66% actually prefer them over staffed checkouts.

As a result, offices, hotels, universities and other establishments are adopting retail technologies without supervision, according to the study “Unattended: The Payments Technology Shifting the Future of Commerce,” a collaboration between PYMNTS Intelligence and Discover Global Network.

In January, digital commerce company NCR Voyix introduced a new self-checkout offering designed to enable retailers to switch between assisted and self-service checkouts, as well as cash and cashless checkouts.

NCR Voyix’s next-generation self-checkout solution was designed for the emergence of frictionless hybrid stores, the company said at the time.

In August, Payroc partnered with Ingenico to launch an unattended payment device called Ingenico Self/3000, which aims to meet growing demand in the self-service market.
