The power plant network and the lines connecting homes and businesses are widely considered to be one of the most critical infrastructures in the world, especially in developed economies. It is also one of the most frequently attacked factors, the consequences of which can potentially reach far beyond the energy sector.

In this report, we analyze the growing sources of cyber risk in the electricity sector, track evolving threats, threat actors and vulnerabilities, and examine one of the most well-known vulnerabilities today – cyber risk in the electricity supply chain. It also examines the nature of cyber risk in the supply chain, delves into recent supply chain attacks and their impact on the energy sector, and discusses the challenges of dealing with these threats.
