Rivian’s Pivot Energy will build 60 MW of solar PV in Illinois, US

According to Pivot Energy, cooperation with the electric vehicle manufacturer will enable the expansion of solar power plants in locations more dependent on fossil fuels. Photovoltaic technology contacted Pivot Energy regarding the project’s construction schedule and expected commercial commissioning date.

Both companies will invest $5,000 per MW built in local organizations, which, among other things, will reduce the energy burden on low-income families.

Mat Elmore, vice president of strategic accounts at Pivot Energy, said: “This is a significant step in scaling up renewables across the country, providing a blueprint for how the auto industry can increase its energy footprint in areas that need it most.” .

This is the latest partnership Pivot Energy has signed with a company dealing with local photovoltaic projects. Last March, US retail giant Walmart invested in 19 solar projects across the US, 15 of which were community solar projects. The partnership between the companies was concluded in the form of a tax equity investment for the construction, operation and maintenance of a photovoltaic portfolio.
