The Cypriot maritime sector will benefit from the strategic partnership

Frederick University and port management company DP World Limassol have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week, trying to “keep going strengthen their Strategic partnership in areas of common interest,” according to the statement published on Friday.

The announcement indicated that the MoU was signed on Thursday by DP World Limassol CEO Simon Pitout and Frederick University Head of Maritime Studies Angelos Menelaou.

“We are very pleased expand our partnership with Frederick University– Pitut said.

“Over the past few years, students from Frederick University who have completed studies in shipping or related fields have participated in internships at DP World Limassol, and many of them were offered permanent employment” he added.

Additionally, Pitout said that “we are hopeful with this deal to further strengthen our cooperation with the academic communityoffering even more opportunities for students and strengthening the country’s maritime industry.”

Both parties explained that the partnership agreement provides for two full scholarships funded by DP World Limassol, as well as paid internship opportunities for students of Frederick University in Limassol Port.

In addition, it also includes joint organization of conferences and scientific seminars, cooperation on research projects in areas of common interest and contact with the maritime industry through professional experience.

This also includes the potential for sponsored field trips to reputable international maritime organizations.

For his part, Menelaou stated that “Maritime tourism is a growing sector in Cyprusoffering graduates exciting employment opportunities.”

“Our university attaches great importance to cultivation closer links between academia and industryand values ​​our cooperation with business stakeholders in all sectors of the blue economy,” he added.

“We are extremely pleased to have laid the foundations for cooperation with DP World Limassol and I am convinced that today’s agreement will be beneficial for benefit to all current and future students I am continuing my maritime studies at our university,” concluded Menelaou.
