An investigative report into the helicopter crash in Iran has been published

What’s the story

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has made public the first investigation report into the recent helicopter crash that killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and others.

Tasnim The news agency quoted the report as saying the helicopter stuck to its set course without any deviations.

The report showed that the pilot tried to make contact with other helicopters in the convoy about 90 seconds before the crash.

It was also confirmed that there were no bullet holes or similar objects in the wreckage.

The crash site was located in difficult conditions

The helicopter caught fire after impacting the mountain, complicating rescue efforts due to regional fog and low temperatures.

The search and rescue operation continued until dusk and continued throughout the night.

“On Monday at 5:00 a.m. local time, the exact location of the incident was determined using drones,” the report reads.

Investigators found no suspicious elements in Raisi’s flight crew conversations with the guard tower.

Further details are expected as the investigation continues.

President Raisi’s last trip

The accident occurred on Sunday when President Raisi was traveling to East Azerbaijan province.

He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Iran’s Supreme Leader to the Representative of East Azerbaijan Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem.

On Thursday, the nation said goodbye to President Raisi as he was laid to rest at the holy shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.

It is worth noting that presidential elections will be held in Iran on June 28. In the meantime, Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as president.
