Was the Cannes film market as volatile as this year’s festival offerings? While everyone sides with the Great One Emilia Perez The discourse of 2024, or settling accounts with the rise of the cult Megalopolis, we have prepared a list of all films that sold to distributors at the most prestigious festival of the year. So what found a home after the festival show? Seed of the Holy Fig, directed by Iranian political exile Mohammad Rasoulof, was picked up by Neon for distribution in North America. Relative newcomer Metrograph Pictures has scored two popular films with Julien Colonna Kingdom and Sandhya Suri Santosh — while Sideshow and Janus took Payal Kapadia Everything we imagine as light. Netflix noticed the difference Emilia Perez in a contract that is worth seven figures.

Otherwise, packages were sold in film market for both upcoming films and already completed projects, e.g Entertainment system not working, a Kirsten Dunst romance starring Ruben Östlund that once again wonders how wealthy weirdos trapped on a moving ship will behave in difficult times. It went for an obscure eight figures to A24, the festival’s top price – that is, until we learned that Apple’s acquisition Tenzinga it could have been a $40 million deal. Audiard’s crime comedy musical stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña and Edgar Ramirez romp this sparked strong reactions from critics and audiences in Cannes. It tells the story of an “overqualified and exploited” lawyer (Saldaña) from a large firm who is better at freeing criminals than with the justice system. Soon, she is offered a new way to escape from the performance: help the king (Gascón) transform into a woman.

In this animated film, a cat goes to the end of the world. When his hometown is flooded, he joins a different society a group of animals seeking shelter on a boat. As the animals make their way through the ruins of sunken cities, the members of this newly formed community must learn to tolerate each other in this brave new world.

One of four films directed by female directors that will be shown in the competition, Everything we imagine as light follows a nurse who, unprovoked, receives a package from her strange husband. On the other hand, her roommate has other problems: no matter how hard she tries, she can’t find a good place in Mumbai where she can meet her boyfriend. A trip to the beach can solve all their problems.

As nationwide political protests escalate, an investigating judge at Tehran’s Revolutionary Court begins to suspect that his wife and daughters are behind the mysterious disappearance of his weapon. Paranoia surrounding the incident leads him to impose increasingly repressive measures at home. The director of this current film fled to Europe from Iran this month after the Revolutionary Court sentenced him to flogging, eight years in prison and more for making films and political statements criticizing the Iranian government.

Netflix gave Glen Powell another deal after acquiring his project Killer last year at the film festival. Anthony Mackie, Laura Dern and romantic comedy golden boy Powell have teamed up to create a true story about an ambitious lawyer battling the titular chemical giant over the safety of its weed killer Roundup. The film is still in production.

A student who moonlights as a locksmith opens the door to a young woman, inadvertently facilitating a robbery against a ruthless mafia boss. A student accused of theft has one night to prove his innocence in a city shaken by protests.

Director Joachim Trier and actress Renate Reinsve reunite for a second project after working together on the Oscar-nominated romantic drama The worst person in the world. The duo’s latest film tells the story of two sisters who, after the death of their mother, have no choice but to deal with their estranged father. Filming is scheduled to begin in Norway and France in August, with Neon scheduled for release in 2025.

Ruben Östlund’s latest social satire is set on a long-haul flight where the entertainment systems shut down, forcing an eccentric group of passengers to grapple with the most terrifying condition of all: boredom. The film, which is still in production, stars Kirsten Dunst (Civil War) and Daniel Brühl (In the west, no changes) as an unhappy marriage.

Anatomy of a fall co-writer Arthur Harari will direct French phenom Léa Seydoux (Dune: part two) in the sequel to the Oscar-winning film. Like the title, details about the film are unknown aside from the fact that it is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2026.

Adam Elliot’s stop-motion drama tells the story of the unlikely friendship between an eccentric older woman and a depressed nerd who collects decorative snails and is obsessed with romance while coping with a breakup from her twin brother. Sarah Snook (Inheritance) leads the voice.

Willem Dafoe (Types of kindness) and Tom Hiddleston (Curls) will appear in a biographical film about a Nepali mountaineer and his summit of Everest in 1953. Casting for the main role of Tenzing Norgay is underway. The film’s premiere is scheduled for spring 2025.

Julia Ducournau’s sequel after winning the Palme d’Or Titanium According to reports, the film will be “genre defying.” Alpha Golshifteh Farahani will perform (Paterson) and Tahar Rahim (Moorish).
