PeaceHealth names two new hospital CEOs

PeaceHealth is pleased to announce the appointment of two outstanding leaders to key positions within the organization. Following a nationwide search, Cherelle Montanye has been named hospital director at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. Kendall Sawa will return to PeaceHealth as director of PeaceHealth St. Hospital. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington, beginning his career at PeaceHealth in 1997.

Cherelle Montanye is an integral part of the PeaceHealth St. team. John since 2017, serving as Administrative Director. Her strategic vision and leadership have been instrumental in driving PeaceHealth St.’s performance. John through the challenges related to the pandemic and supporting the organization’s key quality and development initiatives.

Reflecting on the appointment, Montanye said, “I am energized to join PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center during this exciting time of growth and expansion,” Cherelle said. “I look forward to leading our dedicated caregivers and embracing Southwest and the community.”

Kendall Sawa, returning to PeaceHealth from Providence Portland Medical Center, brings a wealth of experience and accomplishments. Notable among his achievements at Providence was serving as interim CEO of Providence Willamette Falls Hospital.

Prior to coming to Oregon, Sawa spent over 15 years at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center, where he became known as a dedicated and quality-oriented leader.

Kendall said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to PeaceHealth and contribute to the exceptional care and services provided to our community. I started my career at PeaceHealth in 1997, so it feels like I’ve come home.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cherelle and Kendall to their new roles,” said Richard DeCarlo, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Their leadership and commitment exemplify our PeaceHealth mission, and we look forward to the positive impact they will continue to have on our organization.”
