How EPA regulations will change the market

In March this year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized new tailpipe emissions standards for vehicles manufactured between 2027 and 2032. The regulation will require new cars and trucks sold in the United States to meet the strictest emissions standards ever – standards that none of today’s gasoline-powered, diesel-powered or traditional hybrid vehicles can meet.

Even though this has a direct impact on the future of cars and consumer choices in the United States, most Americans are unaware of these new regulations. A policy that will drastically reduce the availability of new gas-powered vehicles will go into effect unless repealed by an act of Congress.

Pete Scalia spoke with Chet Thompson, president and CEO of AFPM, to discuss the new EPA regulation and its impact on consumers and their ability to purchase new gas-powered cars and trucks.
