The Spotify device, which allows users to stream music through the sound system, will stop working when they stop using it

(CNN) – Spotify’s device that allows users to stream music through their car’s sound system will stop working later this year.

On Thursday, the music streaming service said it was discontinuing “Car Thing,” citing low product demand and supply chain issues.

The product allowed users who did not have a built-in infotainment system in their car to stream music using the Spotify mobile app.

Spotify says the devices will stop working on December 9 and it has no plans to release a new version.
