Ganduje demands support from party members for Tinubu’s new mandate – The Sun Nigeria

From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has made a passionate appeal for the cooperation and support of all members of the party to enable the party win more states and secure a new mandate for President Bola Tinubu after the 2027 general elections.

Ganduje also stressed the urgent need to engage party stakeholders in mass sensitization of Nigerians to properly understand the challenges, efforts and commitment of President Tinubu in tackling the challenges facing the country.

He addressed the North Central Region of the APC Stakeholders Meeting held in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Saturday, assuring that his leadership would “set new standards and benchmarks in the democratic sphere of the country to sustain the continuation of APC rule at all levels.”

The important meeting was attended by the Governors of Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue States and the Deputy Governor of Niger State, former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, former Governor of Nasarawa State Tanko Almakura, former Deputy Speaker Idris Wase, Senator Banabas Gemade, Minister of Steel Development, Shaibu Abubakar Audu, Minister of Special Services, Minister of State, Police, State Chairman of all parties and several others.

The former Kano State Governor also urged all stakeholders of the party and Nigerians to continue to rally support for President Tinubu, adding that the President had not only initiated new projects but had almost completed most of the projects inherited from the previous administration.

He said: “I would like to reaffirm my commitment to the ideals of our great party to set new standards and benchmarks in the democratic sphere of the nation to ensure the maintenance and continuation of the APC government at all levels.

“Even though it is not yet election season, we are revitalizing the party to ensure that in 2027 we retain and win new state governors, as well as Mr. President, to secure another mandate to continue the policies and programs of his government.

“On the party front, you may recall that in my inaugural speech I committed to strengthening unity in our party through hard work individually and collectively. However, in order for me to succeed, I would like to appeal warmly for the cooperation and support of all party members.

“While we are transforming our party into a truly grassroots progressive party, I would also like to appeal to our governors to support the state party leadership by ensuring all state party offices at the county, local government and state levels are fully operational.

“Thanks to this, our members across the country will have symbolic representation in their neighborhoods. It will also enable party activities to be conducted throughout the year, without having to wait for campaigns or elections. Another commitment I have made is the e-registration of our members. The exercise will commence in Niger State on a date to be announced.

“To achieve these noble goals, the National Secretariat has asked for one nomination from each senatorial zone in the country for training and stepping down. “Therefore, state party leadership should also work with their state governors to nominate people who have the ability to learn and influence such knowledge in their states,” he urged.

Similarly, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who deputized for President Tinubu, assured party stakeholders of the President’s utmost respect for the North Central geopolitical zone.

Recalling the zone’s contribution to the unity of the country over the years, he revealed that; “The President will soon take appropriate action to address the alleged irregularities in the appointments and infrastructural development of the zone.”

Referring to the appointment of party stalwarts to key ministerial positions, Akume said; “The President is keen to complete the ongoing works on the Akwanga-Jos, Abuja-Lokoja and Makurdi-Enugu federal highways.”

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and North Central Zonal Coordinator, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, who narrated the success recorded by the party in the zone in the 2023 poll, stressed the need to sustain the party’s winning streak.

He urged the faithful to work hard to ensure the passage of the North Central Development Commission required to exploit the rich minerals and agricultural resources in the zone.
