Albanian government ‘stands up’ to giant companies over social media regulation

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland says the government is “standing up” to giant multinational companies over their ability to regulate the internet and social media.

As part of the federal budget, the government announced $6 million to test age verification technology for internet use.

“They have deep pockets, they are very litigious, but that is no reason why they should not be subject to Australian law,” Rowland said.

“We should try to enforce Australian law.”
